Terms of Service

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of the Lineation platform, website, and related services offered by Lineation ("Lineation," "we," "us," or "our"). By accessing or using our services, you agree to these Terms.

1. The service

Lineation provides software for AI agent discovery, policy enforcement, audit logging, and security operations. We offer the service in two deployment models:

  • Lineation Cloud — a hosted, multi-tenant software-as-a-service offering operated by Lineation; and
  • Lineation On-Premises — software you install and run within your own infrastructure, subject to a separate license or order form.

Features, limits, and support levels may vary by plan. If you execute a separate written agreement with Lineation (such as an order form, master services agreement, or enterprise license), that agreement controls in the event of a conflict with these Terms.

2. Eligibility and accounts

You must be at least 18 years old and have authority to bind your organization to these Terms. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of account credentials and for all activity under your account. Notify us promptly at security@lineation.ai if you suspect unauthorized access.

You agree to provide accurate registration information and keep it current. We may suspend or terminate accounts that provide false information or violate these Terms.

3. Customer data

"Customer Data" means data you or your users submit to or process through the service, including agent activity metadata, configuration, policies, and audit records.

You retain ownership of Customer Data. You grant Lineation a limited license to host, process, transmit, and display Customer Data solely to provide and improve the service, prevent abuse, and comply with law. Our use of Customer Data is further described in our Privacy Policy.

You represent that you have obtained all rights, consents, and authorizations necessary for Lineation to process Customer Data as contemplated by these Terms, including data originating from third-party AI providers you connect to the platform.

4. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • Use the service in violation of applicable law, regulation, or third-party rights;
  • Probe, scan, or test the vulnerability of the service except as expressly authorized in writing;
  • Interfere with or disrupt the integrity or performance of the service, including by introducing malware or excessive automated requests;
  • Access the service through unauthorized means or attempt to gain access to accounts or data you are not permitted to access;
  • Reverse engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract source code from the service, except to the extent such restrictions are prohibited by law;
  • Resell, sublicense, or provide the service to third parties except as expressly permitted in your agreement; or
  • Use the service to develop a competing product where prohibited by your enterprise agreement.

We may investigate violations and cooperate with law enforcement. We may suspend or terminate access for conduct that risks the service, other customers, or third parties.

5. Lineation Cloud

For Lineation Cloud, we will use commercially reasonable efforts to make the service available, subject to scheduled maintenance, emergency maintenance, and events outside our reasonable control.

We may modify features from time to time. If we discontinue a material feature of a paid plan, we will provide reasonable advance notice where practicable. Free-tier and trial offerings may be modified or discontinued at any time.

Uptime commitments, support response times, and data handling obligations for enterprise customers are set forth in applicable order forms or service level agreements, if any.

6. Lineation On-Premises

For on-premises deployments, Lineation provides software and documentation; you are responsible for installation, hosting, networking, backup, and security of your environment unless otherwise agreed in writing.

You are responsible for applying updates and patches we make available. Failure to maintain supported versions may limit our ability to provide support or security updates.

Unless your license provides otherwise, on-premises software is licensed for internal use by your organization and may not be redistributed.

7. Fees and payment

Paid plans, on-premises licenses, and professional services are billed according to the pricing, order form, or checkout flow you accept. Fees are non-refundable except where required by law or expressly stated in your agreement.

You authorize us and our payment processors to charge applicable fees. If payment fails, we may suspend access after reasonable notice. You are responsible for taxes, excluding taxes based on our net income.

8. Intellectual property

Lineation and its licensors own all rights, title, and interest in the service, software, documentation, website, trademarks, and related intellectual property, excluding Customer Data.

Subject to these Terms and payment of applicable fees, we grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable right to access and use the service for your internal business purposes during the subscription or license term.

If you provide feedback or suggestions, you grant us a perpetual, irrevocable, royalty-free license to use that feedback without obligation to you.

9. Confidentiality

Each party may receive confidential information from the other. The receiving party will use the disclosing party's confidential information only to perform under these Terms and will protect it using reasonable care. Confidentiality obligations do not apply to information that is publicly available, independently developed, or rightfully received from a third party without restriction.

10. Third-party services

The service may interoperate with third-party AI providers, identity systems, cloud platforms, and other tools you choose to connect. Lineation does not control third-party services and is not responsible for their availability, security, or practices. Your use of third-party services is subject to their terms.

11. Disclaimers

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE." TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, LINEATION DISCLAIMS ALL WARRANTIES, WHETHER EXPRESS, IMPLIED, OR STATUTORY, INCLUDING IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, TITLE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT.

Lineation does not warrant that the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that it will detect or prevent every security incident. You are responsible for configuring policies appropriate to your risk tolerance and regulatory obligations.

12. Limitation of liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, NEITHER LINEATION NOR ITS SUPPLIERS, OFFICERS, DIRECTORS, EMPLOYEES, OR AGENTS WILL BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS, REVENUE, DATA, OR GOODWILL, ARISING OUT OF OR RELATED TO THESE TERMS OR THE SERVICE, EVEN IF ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES.

LINEATION'S TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ALL CLAIMS ARISING OUT OF OR RELATED TO THESE TERMS OR THE SERVICE WILL NOT EXCEED THE GREATER OF (A) THE AMOUNTS PAID BY YOU TO LINEATION FOR THE SERVICE IN THE TWELVE (12) MONTHS BEFORE THE EVENT GIVING RISE TO LIABILITY, OR (B) ONE HUNDRED U.S. DOLLARS (US $100).

Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations; in those cases, our liability is limited to the fullest extent permitted by law.

13. Indemnification

You will defend, indemnify, and hold harmless Lineation and its affiliates, officers, directors, employees, and agents from claims, damages, losses, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising from (a) your Customer Data, (b) your use of the service in violation of these Terms or applicable law, or (c) your integration with third-party services.

14. Term and termination

These Terms remain in effect while you use the service. You may stop using the service at any time. We may suspend or terminate access if you materially breach these Terms and fail to cure within a reasonable period after notice, or immediately if required to protect the service or comply with law.

Upon termination, your right to access the service ends. Sections that by their nature should survive (including Customer Data ownership, confidentiality, disclaimers, limitation of liability, and indemnification) will survive termination.

15. Export and sanctions compliance

You may not use or export the service except as authorized by United States law and the laws of the jurisdiction in which the service is used. You represent that you are not located in, under the control of, or a national or resident of any country or person subject to U.S. embargo or sanctions.

16. Governing law and disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, excluding its conflict-of-law rules. The parties consent to the exclusive jurisdiction of the state and federal courts located in Delaware for disputes arising from these Terms, except that Lineation may seek injunctive relief in any court of competent jurisdiction.

Before filing a claim, you agree to contact us at hello@lineation.ai and attempt to resolve the dispute informally for at least thirty (30) days.

17. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we will post the updated Terms on this page and update the "Last updated" date. Where required, we will provide additional notice. Continued use of the service after changes become effective constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.

18. General

  • Entire agreement — These Terms, together with applicable order forms and policies referenced herein, constitute the entire agreement regarding the service unless superseded by a signed enterprise agreement.
  • Assignment — You may not assign these Terms without our consent. We may assign these Terms in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets.
  • Severability — If any provision is unenforceable, the remaining provisions remain in effect.
  • No waiver — Failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver of future enforcement.
